Having that craving for some delicious burgers? We have a plant base burger idea that will feed that cravings. Try one of the best veggie burger using just 5 simple ingredients.
INGREDIENTS (Makes About 4-6)
PATTIES (You will be using 5 main ingredients)
2 cups no-salt-added canned black beans, drained and liquid reserved (Set aside the liquid)
1 cup cooked long grain wild or brown rice (I use the instant rice and warm up in the microwave for 1 minute)
2 cups using a mix of 3 mushrooms blend (Shitake, Portabella, and White Button)
1 medium onion, quartered
3/4 cup quick-cooking rolled oats (place in food processor until grounded and set aside)
SEASONINGS
1 Tbsp. lime juice
2 Tbsp. of Worcestershire Sauce
1 tsp of Soy Sauce (Optional)
2 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. of smoked paprika
1 tsp of garlic powder
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
TOPPINGS
4 100% wholegrain hamburger buns, split and toasted (We use Dave’s Killer 21 Grain Hamburger Buns)
4 leaves leaf lettuce
1 organic tomato, sliced
2 red onion slices, separated
Condiments of your choosing (We also use pickled Jalapenos and Pickles)
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a food processor combine the the patty ingredients (except the grated rolled oats).
- Pulse until chunky but not pureed. Add a small amount of reserved bean liquid if mixture seems dry or isn’t sticking together. Mixture should be moist but not wet. (Tip: Add the beans ingredient last and on top to prevent sticking)
- Add All the seasonings and mix the rolled oats at this time. (Add black bean excess liquid as needed)
- With wet hands, shape mixture into four 3½-inch patties. Chill at least 20 minutes.
- In a large nonstick skillet cook burgers over medium-high heat 8 to 10 minutes or until burgers are lightly browned and cooked through, turning once.
- Serve burgers on hamburger buns with all your favorite fixings like lettuce, tomato and onion slices, and desired condiments.(Optional ingredients such as avocado, or microgreens are also some great toppings)
